From The Water Straight To Your Plate - Fresh Oysters & More from Shuck Shack

A few weeks ago a couple friends and me paid a visit to one of the newest restaurants in town, Shuck Shack. Located at 301 Ohio Street, right on the water, Mike Tobin (owner) and his team have created something real good in Buffalo. Bringing fresh oysters straight from the water to your plate, you can’t go wrong. There are a handful of seafood and beverage options to choose from, and if you aren’t into the oysters, clams or ahi tuna to name a few, they have classic American food staples like burgers, fries and hot dogs.

With the deliciousness of the food you really can’t go wrong. You get the high end quality of food without paying those typical high-end prices. When I went with my friends we got a bunch of items and shared them.

Our Order || 2 dozen oysters | the classic, french fries | shrimp cocktail | and the ahi tuna poke special

Everything was so dang good! Those lobster claws looks pretty good too, and are on my list to try during my next visit.

The atmosphere was great - I mean you can’t pass up a place by the water, with good food and drink, it screams summertime good vibes and in my opinion is one of hottest places in town right now. The staff were very personable, attentive and were doing everything they could to accommodate their guests. They were cleaning, social distancing and had face masks on the whole time I was there. You could see safety was top of mind, which is nice to see during the times we’re living in.

Props to Mike for his hustle, passion and dedication to bring something special to Buffalo. You hit it out of the park.

WNY BAC - 8th Annual Bookfest, July 13, 2019

IMG_7472.jpg

WNY Book Arts Center (WNY BAC) is located at 468 Washington Street in Buffalo, NY and is one of the coolest places in downtown. Their mission – “To help promote a greater understanding of printing and book-related arts through education, creation, and exhibition for a broad and diverse community.”

It is a great place to visit if you’re looking for something fun to do/learn/support. I had a chance through a Buffalo Bloggers meet up to learn about the organization/business, meet some of the staff and have a hands-on experience in the process of letter pressing. It’s not only a place to go to learn to letterpress, but offers bookbinding, paper making and custom printing opportunities as well as workshops, school programs, professional development, and a shop where you can purchase a variety of postcards, artwork, notebooks and more.

If you like books, are interested in learning more or want to check out WNY BAC and see what they are all about, they are hosting their 8th Annual Buffalo Bookfest on Saturday, July 13th from 12-5pm. More details can be found here.

Doors Open Buffalo

Yesterday with the talents of the Explore Buffalo staff and volunteers, Doors Open Buffalo took place. Offering inspiration and an appreciation for Buffalo’s unique history and architecture through free public access to significant building interiors.

From a visitor stand point I thought it was a great opportunity to visit historical buildings filled with beautiful architecture and so many stories. While walking thru the streets of downtown, it looked like hundreds of people took advantage of this great opportunity. While I didn’t get to visit every place on the list, the ones I did get o visit didn’t disappoint.

Kudos to Explore Buffalo and all the participating buildings for a great day!

Last night thanks to my friends at the Buffalo Museum of Science and Visit Buffalo Niagara, I got to attend a preview night for the new exhibit - Art of the Brick opening tomorrow - February 9. The exhibit is labeled as one of CNN’s Top 10 ‘Global Must See Exhibitions’ and I can see why. It is such a cool exhibit, like none other! Running through May 5th, make sure to check it out!

Here are just some of the gazillion photos that my sister and I took last night.
